10th International Agricultural Exhibition – AgriteQ, 2023, inaugrated by Minister of Municipality

NewsMinister of Municipality H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie yesterday inaugurated the 10th International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) 2023, the largest edition with 675 participants from 55 countries at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
The five-day event which is being organised by the Ministry of Municipality until March 19 is showcasing the latest technologies and products in agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry.
The exhibition, in an area of 29,035sqm, also features an Associated Conference, FoodteQ showcasing the latest food products, a vegetable market with the participation of 110 farms and a honey and dates market among other many attractions.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, Minister of Transport H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Commerce and Industry H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Justice H E Masoud bin Mohammed Al Amri, Group CEO of Qatar Airways and Chairman of Qatar Tourism H E Akbar Al Baker, Minister of Agriculture of Lebanon H E Abbas Al Haj Hassan, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia H E Otar Shamugia and Their Excellencies Ambassadors and guests.
The exhibition is expected to attract a big number of participants, who are offered a unique opportunity to explore the latest trends, engage with key players in the industry, and discover new solutions to enhance their agricultural practices. It brings together 532 international companies, 152 local companies, and 104 farms in a special 29,035sqm space at DECC.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the Minster of Municipality said that Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality places great emphasis on the agricultural sector in its various fields and works diligently to support and assist this vital sector in order to stimulate it to enhance food security and achieve sustainable agricultural development. “It is considered one of the most important strategic sectors in the country, and its importance has increased in light of recent regional and international challenges and developments,” said Al Subaie.
He also highlighted the several qualitative initiatives undertaken by the Ministry to develop the agricultural sector. “One of the most important of these initiatives was the implementation of the Agricultural Census project and conducting of a number of applied and tissue culture research, as well as the initiative to reduce food waste and the initiative to develop laboratories and veterinary quarries by opening quarries at Hamad Port and Ruwais Port,” said the Minister.
