The 10th Ramadan Sports Festival began yesterday, according to Nasser Abdullah Al Hajri, director of communication and public relations at the Aspire Zone Foundation. He also noted that the festival has grown into an annual ritual that sports fans look forward to.
Al Hajri explained to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Aspire Zone Foundation's goals in holding the Ramadan tournaments are to identify people who have an aptitude for different games and to create the perfect environment for sports play within its facilities.
He stated that since the Foundation's inception, it has worked to hold a number of community programmes to increase public awareness of the value of physical activity and leading a healthy lifestyle, as well as to develop an individual and societal culture in which physical activity plays a significant role.
According to Al Hajri, the Ramadan Sports Festival will provide a wonderful sporting experience for everyone and feature sporting activities for women in addition to a unique event for the female employees of the Aspire Zone Foundation in Aspire Park.
The first of eight sporting activities, which the Aspire Zone Foundation had previously announced, took place yesterday from 21:30 until 01:00 and will continue through April 8.
