Under the theme "Journey of Hope," the 16th Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference & Exhibition got underway in Doha yesterday. The UN World Food Program organises the GHAC in collaboration with NGOs that deal with humanitarian aviation, and it is sponsored by Transport Minister H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti.
Qatar Tourism Chairman H E Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, prominent Qatari aviation and air transportation officials, several heads of Arab and international civil aviation authorities, representatives from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and the International Civil Aviation Organisation, air operators, aircraft manufacturers, and aviation service providers attended the opening ceremony.
The 16th GHAC, which takes place over three days, focusses on strengthening the capacities of civil aviation authorities, aviation industries, and national agencies that work with humanitarian organisations. The goal is to improve the relationship between aviation operators, encourage full-scale industry collaboration, lower risk, and prevent aviation disasters.
