07 Jan 2025
NewsThe National Sports Day Committee (NSDC) has issued rules and standards that all private and public institutions must follow when planning events to commemorate the 2025 National Sports Day.
According to a statement from the NSDC, all ministries, government offices, public authorities, corporations, and operating entities, including the private sector, should submit their NSD plans by completing a form on the official website www.msy.gov.qa.
The NSDC listed numerous criteria for event selection, the first of which is a concentration solely on physical activities rather than spectacular festival appearances. It emphasized the significance of focusing on initiatives that raise awareness and promote athletics as a regular healthy activity.
The NSDC has addressed government ministries and agencies, all public bodies and institutions, as well as state-operated entities, including the private sector, on the need of meeting all prerequisites in order to fulfill NSD's desired aims.
The restrictions that must be met include the avoidance of the building of tents and temporary sporting facilities, as well as strict attention to safety and security requirements during these events. It encouraged the full use of the country's sporting facilities, parks, and public spaces.
The committee has also requested that organisers provide attendees with healthy eating options and refrain from serving fast food. It also requested that organisers refrain from giving away free gifts or meals to the public.
Concerts and other performance activities should be avoided in favor of workouts and physical activities, as such shows may lead to the public preferring them over sports.
