AFC Annual Awards Doha 2022 to be presented by NEOM will celebrate the momentous achievements in Asian football

The AFC Annual Awards Doha 2022, which will be given by the AFC's Global Partner NEOM, will make its eagerly awaited return to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) calendar after a four-year hiatus. The event will honour the historic accomplishments of a year that marked a revolution in Asian football. These include the incredible triumph of the largest-ever AFC Women's Asian Cup in India, as well as noteworthy runs in the AFC Champions League and other age-group contests. The national teams of the Continent also demonstrated their strength with outstanding performances at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The highlight of the evening will be the renowned AFC Player of the Year awards, for which Mathew Leckie, Almoez Ali, and Salem Al Dawsari are the three men's nominees; the three women's front-runners are Samantha Kerr, Zhang Linyan, and Saki Kumagai. The evening will see the presentation of eighteen awards, including the AFC President's Recognition Award for Grassroots Football, the redesigned AFC Member Association of the Year award, and the recently established AFC Regional Association of the Year award.

At the occasion, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy of the FIFA International Cup Qatar 2022 will also receive a commemorative plaque in recognition of Qatar's outstanding hosting of the international football showcase.

AFC Asian International Player of the Year, AFC Youth Player of the Year (Men), AFC Youth Player of the Year (Women), and AFC Referees' Special Awards are the categories that will be revealed at the AFC Annual Awards in Doha in 2022 and given at a separate special event.
