Al Kharaitiyat is among the newest sports clubs in Qatar, having been formed in 1996 as Al-Hilal Sports Club. In 2004, the club was renamed to its current name, Al Kharaitiyat, by a decision of the vice-president of the Qatar Olympic Committee no. (31) for the year 2004.
