Since the founding of the modern State of Qatar, those in charge of it have taken the task of achieving security, tranquility and public tranquility of utmost concern, and the establishment of a police apparatus was the guarantee for maintaining order and security and protecting lives, honor, and public and private funds.
After the formation of the first nucleus of the regular police in Qatar on 10/09/1949 AD, work began with the first police station in December 1949, and it was called the Doha Department, and its headquarters was in the middle of Souq Waqif. At that time, he specialized in providing security and protection for citizens and maintaining order by conducting mobile patrols, carrying out the task of stationary guards on vital places in the capital, regulating traffic, as well as carrying out all police work such as following up on criminals, investigating criminal and traffic cases, referring the accused to court, and deporting the persons required to be deported.
