NewsBased on the principles of promoting equal educational
opportunities and assisting students in realising their potential in a
comprehensive educational environment, the Ministry of Education and Higher
Education has launched an electronic service to activate the system of
obtaining educational vouchers for Qatari students with disabilities.
Based on the kind and extent of services needed, the educational vouchers are
split into three tiers. The first support level's total worth is QR43,000, the
second support level's is QR53,000, and the third support level's is QR78,000.
According to Fatima Al Saadi, director of the Department of Special Education
and Inclusive Education, this service will launch at the beginning of the
2024–2025 academic year.
The guardian can electronically set up an appointment for an
interview with the Ministry's Evaluation Centre in order to provide openness
and flexibility. The student will be evaluated during this interview to
ascertain their requirements and the amount of educational voucher to which
they are eligible. The guardian will then be allowed to choose, using the same
method now utilised for public educational vouchers, a suitable private school
from those with national accreditation, she continued.
Those with multiple disabilities, hearing impairments, physical and muscular
disabilities, visual impairments and blindness, intellectual disabilities and
associated syndromes, and autism spectrum disorder are among the categories of
people with disabilities who are covered by the educational vouchers.
A financial sum was allotted for Qatari students with
impairments, in addition to the initial value of the present educational
vouchers, by the State Cabinet resolution No. 25, which was published on
December 11, 2023.
With a variety of alternatives for parents to register their children in
programs and learning settings that match their needs and goals, this decision
seeks to achieve equitable opportunities in the provision of resources and
assistance.
