General Directorate of Traffic develops a comprehensive traffic plan for the holy month of Ramadan

The General Directorate of Traffic has revealed its comprehensive plan to manage traffic during the holy month of Ramadan, which will include various awareness programs to enhance road safety.

The Director of the Traffic Awareness Department Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Radi Al Hajri said that the General Directorate of Traffic has been developing a comprehensive traffic plan for the holy month of Ramadan that responds to the nature of movement in this month, adding that this plan aims to protect all road users, and ensure the flow of traffic by stationing traffic patrols allover the country throughout the day, with a focus on peak times.

He explained that during Ramadan, traffic patrols will manage traffic and prevent traffic congestion, especially in commercial streets, surroundings of shopping and public places, mosques, as well as Ramadan activity and event locations, including during Garangao and Eid celebration.

Brigadier Al Hajri noted that the holy month of Ramadan is an occasion to promote to society members correct traffic conduct, and raise community awareness of traffic laws in order to preserve property and lives, noting that the Directorate prepared an awareness program under the theme of Ramadan and safe driving.

He also indicated that the program's workshops and lectures will target all road users including vehicle drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, and will include the distribution of free Iftar meals throughout Ramadan.

Regarding the Directorate's efforts to control the movement of delivery motorcycles, the Director of the Traffic Awareness Department highlighted that the traffic plan includes all road users, and are not related to a specific group, calling on everyone to adhere to traffic laws and controls for general safety.

Brigadier Mohammed Radi Al Hajri drew attention to the Directorate's regulations and conditions for delivery motorcycles, announced last year, informing that the percentage of companies' commitment to these regulations and conditions reached more than 90 percent, enhancing road safety.
