HMC released information about their assistance to travelers to understand Qatar’s healthcare system

With the aim of assisting visitors in comprehending Qatar's extensive healthcare system, the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has made information about its services public. In a social media post, the HMC stated that visitors who have required health insurance can always receive emergency care there.

To guarantee that every visitor to Qatar gets high-quality medical care, the country implemented the Mandatory Visitor Health Insurance Scheme in 2023. Visitors' emergency medical care up to QAR 150,000 will be covered by the plan. A medical emergency classification is necessary for a condition to be covered.

HMC suggests that those who are unsure should talk to an employee of the Emergency Department's insurance coordination team, who can help or point them in the direction of the best medical facility. 

Payment will be required if a patient continues their therapy and their condition is not considered a medical emergency. 

In the event that a patient has a medical emergency and the cost of their care beyond the covered amount, their private insurance may pay the difference, contingent on the terms of their policy.

If not, they can be asked to pay for it. However, the mandatory Visitor Health Insurance Scheme in Qatar will not cover their ailment if it is not considered a medical emergency. Their private insurance, however, might pay for all or part of their medical care. 

HMC emphasized that customers will have to pay for their treatment up front and then pursue reimbursement from their insurance company if the hospital does not have a contract with them. HMC will bill the insurance carrier directly if it is on its approved list.
