Kahramaa announced the launch of 11 competitions locally and globally, aiming to support environmental sustainability

NewsThe Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the National Campaign for the Conservation and Efficient Use of Water and Electricity in Qatar (Tarsheed), announced the launch of 11 competitions locally and globally, aiming at encouraging the adoption of procedures and practices to support environmental sustainability and rationalize energy and water consumption.
Kahramaa said in a statement on Wednesday that Tarsheed started receiving participation requests of all categories, from individuals, as well as the government and private sectors.
Participation requests will continue until April 10, on the Tarsheed Competitions page on Kahramaa's official website: km.qa/tarsheed
The Corporation announced three international competitions and another eight local ones, covering a wide range of specializations and categories, including an award for TARSHEED Conserving Building, aiming to raise awareness of the concept of rational building and introducing the benefits of applying sound practices to rationalize electricity and water in construction, motivating subscribers to adopt rationalization practices in the construction market.
Concerned about Qatar's water security, participants will compete for the Best Water Recycling Initiative, aiming to conserve water and enhance its efficient use.
In cooperation with KidZania Doha, Kahramaa dedicated an award for Best School Project on Sustainability and Energy Efficiency, aiming to cooperate with the educational sector, to encourage school students to conduct research to bring about significant and sustainable positive change, as well as raising awareness of the five sustainable development goals and their importance for the future.
In a related context, the Corporation announced an award for Best Graduation Project For Energy Efficiency, aiming to encourage Qatar university students to take an interest in energy efficiency issues, particularly among engineering students. Additionally, there is an award for Best District Cooling System Performance, aiming to encourage best practices, innovations, and solutions to increase the value and effectiveness of district cooling systems.
Another competition is dedicated to Best Sustainable Building Design to raise awareness of the concept of guided building design among individuals, consulting offices, and contracting companies.
Among the competitions, is one for the Best Smart Application in the field of Sustainability, in which tech developers will compete to create high-quality applications that provide services related to energy efficiency or even entertainment applications serving that purpose.
TARSHEED Competition For the Best Innovative Idea in Energy Efficiency aims to support creativity and innovative thinking in coming up with ideas for innovative and executable projects of added value to energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles or environmental sustainability.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, this years competitions include a competition for Best Sustainable Camping Facility, aiming to encourage energy efficiency and rationalization methods in camping and estates.
The Best Building Retrofitting Competition aims to update already existing buildings' tools to ensure energy rationalization and usage efficient, in keeping with sustainable development standards and conditions.
Additionally, the Highest Electric Vehicle User competition aims to motivate Qatari society to use electric vehicles in order to ensure carbon emissions reduction and to raise awareness of the existence of Tarsheed electric charging stations that are to become widespread in all corners of Qatar.
These competitions are part of Kahramaa's great efforts to achieve environmental sustainability in a translation of Qatar's sustainable environmental development endeavors, in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (QNE).
