The eighth iteration of the Mahaseel Festival got underway on Sunday thanks to the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara. Up to April 15, the Ministry of Municipality and the Qatari Farmers Forum are working together to organise the event. This time, Youssef Khaled Al Khulaifi, the Director of the Agricultural Affairs Department at the Ministry of Municipality Engineer, stated that the collaboration with Katara is in its ninth year and that he is honoured to be associated with the Qatari Farmers Forum.
Along with the exhibited products, which include honey, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, flowers, and various nurseries, Al Khulaifi emphasised that the festival serves as a cultural platform to showcase these products through which the development of local production can be understood. He also confirmed that this edition reflects an evolution in the showcased products and the large turnout from a variety of community segments.
According to Al Khulaifi, local production is mostly dependent on water use, thus farmers must continue to use water resources as efficiently as possible in order to compete with imported goods. He praised the outstanding quality of regional agricultural goods, particularly the fact that they are harvested and put on display in markets where they draw customers and command a premium position in Qatar's consumption market.
