Katara revealed programme for biodiversity genome, to promote falconry heritage at the local, regional, and international levels

The Katara programme for biodiversity genome, one of the initiatives run by the Al Gannas Qatari Society to promote falconry heritage at the local, regional, and global levels, was founded, according to the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, general manager of Cultural Village Foundation-Katara and director of the Katara programme for biodiversity genome, commented on the situation and referred to it as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region. He also stated that the program's goal is to establish a professional centre for biodiversity genome studies in the future to build on the mechanisms and findings of the Qatar Falcon Genome Project.

Al Sulaiti continued by saying that the initiative also aims to establish a network of collaboration with esteemed research institutions both domestically and internationally in addition to using genomic sciences to protect live species in Qatar, particularly those with a cultural component like falcons. He reaffirmed that the programme culminates in Katara's positive and innovative initiatives in a variety of fields, builds communication bridges among researchers locally and internationally, and advances the status of the Cultural Village Foundation as a forum for international cultures and a centre for civilizational communication among peoples in science and knowledge.

For Qatar to be the first and leading programme in the region to provide such services, the establishment of this programme will open new avenues for advanced scientific research, encourage communication between researchers and scientists, disseminate research and studies, as well as upgrade genomic tests for falcons and other living species that have heritage and cultural significance.

In line with Katara's mission and vision, he emphasised that the initiative will investigate genetic maps to preserve Qatar's ecosystem and biodiversity and advance sustainability goals. The program's goals are to preserve the environment, integrate science and cultural heritage, promote scientific research in falconry, and draw in new scientific talent in light of the fact that these achievements have drawn important international organisations to continue their cooperation in this project.
