NewsThe 26-year-old, who started on pole, was comfortably clear of the rest of the field as he won his 14th championship of the season at the Lusail International Circuit in 1hr 27mins 39.168sec.He was simply unstoppable, finishing 4.838 seconds ahead of McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris (+5.969). Verstappen got his winner's trophy from Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani in the presence of HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
While Qatar's sports minister, HE Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, presented Oscar Piastri with the trophy, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation President Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai presented it to Lando Norris.
Qatar's Olympic and three-time world champion high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim, English football superstar David Beckham, and former Brazilian football star Ronaldinho were among those in attendance.
Worldwide superstar DJ Snake performed at the Lusail International Circuit, capping off a superb evening of speed and thrills, after the race. The Formula One race will now be held in Austin, Texas, for the 19th race of the season.
