To increase the ecotourism industry in Qatar, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) is creating an integrated plan that includes the development of ecotourism destinations, the production of a comprehensive map that highlights important landmarks and attractions, improvements to visitor areas' infrastructure and public services, the encouragement of sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact, and projects to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Qatari people.
Nature reserves, islands and coasts, caves and valleys, dunes, and territorial waters that are home to the rarest marine creatures in the world are just a few of Qatar's many and varied natural resources, which are regarded as some of the most significant elements and landmarks of ecotourism.
Ecotourism aims to raise awareness of wildlife and uplift locals while providing the same positive experiences as traditional travel without the drawbacks.
