The formation of the club began in 1996 as a football team (under the name of Al-Nahda Sports Club), located in Al-Mamoura area in Doha, with administrative and financial affiliation back to the Qatar Football Association. Where a constituent general assembly was formed from the people of the region, and the board of directors was elected, and in light of it, the name of Al-Nahda Sports Club was changed to Al-Shula Sports Club, and in 2000 an official headquarters for the club was built in Mesaimeer area under the supervision of the National Olympic Committee consisting of an administrative building and changing rooms Clothes and one soccer field.
