Ministry of Transport registered growth in transactions in the fourth quarter of 2022

NewsThe Ministry of Transport (MoT) registered growth in transactions through Land Transport Sector and Maritime Transport Affairs in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022. The Ministry announced on its Twitter account yesterday that 2,175 transactions were conducted by Land Transport Sector in Q4, 2022. Out of the total 2,175 transactions 1,393 were related to land transport licensing, 500 to land transport planning and 282 transactions related to traffic engineering and road safety.
The main services include road defects detection, traffic impact studies, parking requests, rural access roads requests and directional and advertising signs. The services also include issuing preliminary approvals for limousine business activities, land transport activities, and car rental business activities, it further noted. According to previous data in 2021, MoT had conducted 6,657 transactions through its Land Transport Sector. Out of the total 6,657 transactions; 3639 were related to land transport licensing, 2677 related to land transport planning and 341 transactions were related to traffic engineering and road safety.
Land transport has become a key enabler of the Qatari economy and a cornerstone of its growth, and the Land Transport Sector continues its efforts to develop a state-of-the-art transport network in line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ministry of Transport also said in a tweet that it conducted 2,785 transactions through Maritime Transport Affairs in the fourth quarter of last year. The main services include issuance and accreditation of certificates of competency for safe manning, naval architect, and marine officer; maritime vessels that are ownership transfer, renewal, registration.
The services also include foreign vessel engaged in operations in Qatar waters that is data modifying and renewal. The Maritime Transport Sector is committed to developing and modernising the sector in line with the Ministry’s strategic plans aiming at ensuring safe maritime navigation that meets all safety requirements and obligations, and keeping pace with international maritime developments through creative and effective application of international maritime instruments and observation of emerging trends and latest publications.
The transportation sector set record numbers in all its services last year during the FIFA World Cup. From November 20 through December 18, the public bus system transported up to 7.368 million passengers, taxis made 315,122 trips, while limousine and passenger transportation companies that use mobile applications reported more than 8.274 million trips.
