NewsOn Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) announced that online registration for the yearly Winter Camping Season for the years 2023–2024 will begin for all areas of the nation. The time to register is October 22, 2023–October 31, 2023. November 1, 2023, is when the Winter Camping Season is scheduled to start, and it will end on April 30, 2024.
The Ministry explained that registration processes will take place in three separate stages: Registration for the central regions will be from 22 - 24 October, and for the southern regions from 25 - 27 October and the registration for the northern regions will be from 28 - 31 October 2023. In this regard, Mohammed Ahmed Al Dahi, Director of the MoECC's Department of Public Relations and Communications, announced that the registration procedure will be conducted via the organization's official website, subject to the requirement that the permit holder pay the permit fees within six (6) hours of receiving the text message verifying the application's approval. If not, the application is deemed invalid, and you will have to re-register. He continued by saying that the Ministry has revised the requirements and duties linked to the camping process in every region of the nation to ensure that this year's season is sustainable and to protect the local environment and the unique and diverse plant cover it contains.
Al Shammari emphasised that, in accordance with the ministry's inspector, who must be present throughout the setup, the permit holders must begin putting up the camp during the camping time. The permission is personal, hence renting or moving the location is prohibited. Additionally, using the permission for activities not permitted or for the use of environmentally damaging products is banned. He underlined the significance of keeping the camp busy and well-maintained, not damaging the wilderness or maritime environment, and disposing of garbage only in approved receptacles.
Colonel Jaber Mohamed Rashid Odaiba, Assistant Director of the Ministry of Interior's Traffic Awareness Department, emphasised the need of following security and safety guidelines when moving cabins and "caravans," including moving them after eight o'clock at night and using main roads and vehicles appropriate for the size of the cabins to prevent collisions.
Additionally, he gave advice on how to maintain cabins and "caravans" and make sure they are safe and ready for transport. He also mentioned that to achieve the necessary safety on the road, large cabins requiring supervision by the Traffic Department must first receive permission from the Patrol Department in the Maamoura area.
