With the announcement of the addition of five additional electronic services to the already-available services in the electronic food safety system, "Watheq," the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) now offers nineteen services total inside the system.
According to a report released by MoPH on Wednesday, the new services include the following: inspection services for food consignments intended for export or re-export, requests for food export certificates, requests for food re-export certificates, and requests for certificate verification.
Through three electronically linked systems - The local market's food control system, the imported and exported food control system, and the electronic management of food analysis laboratories—the Watheq e-system represents a controlled system for the food control process. It is based on the highest international standards and best practices that are subject to the international accreditation standards / ISO 17020.
The Watheq system through precise and quick control, inspection, and monitoring of food products in the markets, has improved food safety and increased the effectiveness of the food safety department in tracking food across the whole food chain since its debut.
Additionally, the method was crucial in making inspections during big sporting events easier. All regulatory bodies have granted the Watheq system access for inspection in the event that the State of Qatar hosts the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
