Ninth edition of the ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition inaugurated with the participation of 450 companies and factories

Under the auspices of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Minister of Commerce and Industry H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, the ninth edition of the "Made in Qatar" exhibition was opened.

H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, the finance minister, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, the chairman of the Qatar Chamber (QC), and Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, the chairman of the Qatar Businessmen Association, were present at the event.

First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari and Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba of QC, as well as several board members and General Manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, were also present for the opening. A number of businesspeople with an interest in the sector as well as representatives from other firms attended the event.

With 450 manufacturers and firms participating, the four-day show is hosted by the Qatar Chamber in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is funded in part by a number of sponsoring organisations and corporations.

After the inauguration, the QC Chairman, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Commerce and Industry visited the exhibition pavilions and received briefings regarding the participating businesses and their offerings. They were present when the Gizaz Glass Container Company, a division of the Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company, was established. The firm focuses on making glass containers that are used to package different commodities, dairy goods, and soft drinks in addition to water.

QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani emphasised the variety of businesses represented at the show, which included six sectors: services, SMEs, furniture, food, petrochemicals, and a host of other industries. He pointed out that the show offers a chance to familiarise oneself with the newest goods and services available in the business. The exhibition also acts as a forum for bilateral discussions between international and Qatari investors to promote deal-making and alliances and partnerships in the industrial sector.

Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, General Manager of Quality Control and Chairman of the Made in Qatar Organising Committee stated that the 9th MIQ expo showcased the progress made by Qatari manufacturers and businesses annually. Al Sharqi observed that a wide range of businesses and factories were on display, many of which had developed significantly in the last few years as a result of the state's advanced infrastructure, strong support from the Wise Leadership, and numerous laws and regulations that made it easier to establish factories and offered numerous benefits and incentives to investors in the industrial sector.
