NMoQ invites young people in Qatar to take part in an exciting 3 day session of Art & Tech Summer Camp

A fun Art & Tech Summer Camp is being offered by the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) to young people in Qatar. It was created by the NMoQ's Learning and Outreach Department in partnership with Studio 5. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's Digital Society Sector launched Studio 5, a project designed to give Qatar's young fundamental knowledge and skills in digital fabrication and new technologies.

In partnership with NMoQ, Studio 5 will impart a variety of technological know-how while emphasising artistic expression. Participants of all ages are invited to take part in a three-day session where they will ultimately produce an artwork.

Workshop on Gamification with BuildBox: During the three days, participants will learn how to use BuildBox to develop a game. The game will take place at the National Museum, and players will get knowledge about character creation through coding. To add realism and interactivity to the game, they will have to use various animations and materials. Sign up by clicking here.

Workshop on Bacteri Art: Over the course of three days, participants will gain knowledge about bioengineering and engage in various genetic engineering activities that utilise E. coli bacteria to make a colour pigment derived from corals in Qatar.

WearArt - Workshop: New topics of knowledge will be presented to the participants. On the first day, they will be exposed to digital fabrication, producing designs with vinyl cutting machines and pressing them into fabric, after using coding tools to create patterns inspired by NMoQ. They will learn about wearable technology and build a little circuit to incorporate an LED light on the last day. Sign up by clicking here.

Workshop: Art Coding with Pictoblox: During the three days, participants will learn about microcontrollers and how to use Micro bit to visualise the code. They will also learn how to use block coding and create various digital art techniques using visual simulators inspired by the NMoQ geometry logo. Participants will create a 30-second film to present their finished digital art at the conclusion of the sessions. Sign up by clicking here.
