Ooredoo hosted a special press conference to unveil the specifics of upcoming Doha Marathon

NewsOn Friday, February 16, 2024, Ooredoo held a special press conference to reveal the details of their next Doha Marathon. Currently a prominent World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, more than 10,000 people are expected to participate in this year's marathon. Together with a competitive group of competitors, the event will mark the comeback of Olympic high jump champion and brand ambassador Mutaz Barshim.
Representatives from several media outlets, sponsors, and the company's brand ambassador, current Olympic and world champion Mutaz Barshim, were present during the conference. During the meeting, important information about the marathon—which is acknowledged as the biggest community sporting event in Qatar—was revealed.
The event is inclusive and offers six racing categories, including junior and kids' races in addition to the full marathon, to accommodate participants of all ages and skill levels. Since competitors with impairments are warmly welcomed to participate, the marathon really embodies inclusion and a sense of community.
The race timings are as follows with the Marathon beginning at 6:15am, Half Marathon at 7:30am, 10KM at 8:30am, 5KM at 9:10am, Junior 5KM (13–17-year-olds) at 9:10am, and Kids 1KM (Under 13-year-olds) at 10:30am.
In collaboration with the Social & Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), this year's tournament has an exciting Al ADAAM category that offers unique rewards to support regional athletes. Everyone who finishes their race is placed into a lottery with the chance to win two brand-new Volkswagen automobiles as prizes. The "Al ADAAM" category will be applied to one of the two automobiles.
The event will start and finish in Hotel Park, giving participants and spectators a more pleasurable, safer, and improved experience with a lovely course along the charming corniche. In advance of Qatar National Sport Day on Monday, February 12, "The Race Village" at Hotel Park will be open for business for five days.
Since its inception in 2013, the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo has experienced rapid growth, coinciding with the country's increasing prominence as a key host of major athletic events and the thriving health and fitness sector in Qatar. The international media attention it receives is also very important in supporting Qatar's tourist sector. With the World Athletics Gold Label under its belt, the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo is currently considered one of the world's premier road marathons, providing qualifying slots for major international races like the Boston Marathon.
