This prestigious event, set to take place from October 11 to 20, has a significant prize fund of $120,000, drawing top-tier international players including as famed Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen. With a glittering final prize of $25,000 for the eventual champion, the tournament promises to be a memorable experience for both avid chess fans and newbies alike, providing a riveting peek into the game's creativity and competition.
Ooredoo's Director of Public Relations, Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari, underlined their commitment to supporting excellence and fair play through strategic partnerships and sponsorships, which they are now expanding into the world of chess.The tournament format is nine rounds each day, with one day set out for recuperation.
The Qatar Chess Association's President and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mohamed Ahmed al-Mudahka, expressed great thanks to Ooredoo for their support, emphasising Ooredoo's key role in furthering the growth and development of chess in Qatar. He hailed the Qatar Masters as the world's most robust chess tournament, with 80 grandmasters in attendance, an accomplishment made possible by Ooredoo's sponsorship, with aspirations for a long-term cooperation ahead.
