The Henley Passport Index, which uses data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to assess the strength of the 199 passports in the world based on the number of destinations they may access without a visa, has revealed its most recent rankings for 2025.
Qatar has improved significantly this year, moving up six spots to 47th place worldwide in the first edition. Currently, 112 out of 227 destinations are visa-free for bearers of a Qatari passport, compared to 108 in January 2024, when the nation was placed 53rd. The country's rankings in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 were 54th, 60th, 53rd, and 55th, respectively.
The UAE is ranked 10th among GCC states with visa-free travel to 185 destinations, while Qatar comes in second.
