NewsTo encourage a tradition of innovation and achievement in Qatar, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has introduced the 17th Education achievement Award. Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani annually recognises excellent students, teachers, researchers, and schools via these prizes.
The announcement was made at a news conference hosted by the Award's organising committee at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE)'s main office. The committee will accept nominations for the prize from October 1 through December 31, 2023, according to Maryam Abdullah Al Muhannadi, CEO of the Education Excellence prize, who spoke at the press briefing.
Candidates can submit their nomination applications online at educompetitions.edu.gov.qa, according to Al Muhannadi, who is also the department's director of public relations and communications at MoEHE. "The award's introductory sessions will take place today and tomorrow. In November and December 2023, judges will review the submissions, and the findings will be made public in January 2024, she added. She stated the winners will be recognised at a ceremony in March 2024.
The participants will compete in nine categories, including "excellent school," "excellent teacher," "excellent master's degree holder," "excellent PhD holder," and "excellent student (primary, preparatory, and secondary school)". She said that by recognising scientific brilliance—the cornerstone of excellence for all other fields in the nation—the award helps to build a culture of excellence and quality in society. Al Muhannadi said that schools will accept teacher applications submitted under the teachers' category.
"Interested schools are encouraged to apply for the "excellence school category" on their own behalf. However, schools will accept applications from kids who meet the criteria for excellence in scientific research and great students (in all three categories) for secondary school students, according to Al Muhannadi. Candidates, according to her, must submit their applications online.
