Qatar Museums announced that it is now an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), which is a significant step for the country's cultural tourism industry. On October 19, during the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, which was held in Uzbekistan, this historic affiliation was formally announced.
Qatar Museums said that this agreement is a significant step towards boosting cultural tourism in Qatar and that it is honoured to have a key role in promoting travel within Qatar and presenting Qatari culture to the rest of the world. The UNWTO affiliation is in line with the goals of Qatar's Strategy 2030, which places special emphasis on the hosting of international conferences and exhibits as well as the creation of a rich collection of museums and cultural treasures.
The goal of this collaboration between Qatar Museums and the UNWTO is to advance ethical, environmentally friendly, and widely accessible travel.
