Oasis of Manufacturers and Innovators at Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) in collaboration with the youth wing of Qatar National Library recently organized a scientific competition called “Solution Makers Challenge”.
Aimed at students in preparatory and secondary schools, the competition is intended to take participants through a journey of scientific thinking and engineering design to achieve and then implement innovative solutions.
19 students (male and female) participated from five schools: Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School, American School of Doha, Qatar Academy Doha (QAD), Doha College and Qatar Academy for Science and Technology (QAST). The incident
Participants generated innovative ideas to solve specific problems and augmented them with the skills, tools, and resources needed to further innovate their solutions. They underwent several preliminary sessions to familiarize themselves with design thinking.
Then came the phase of thinking and planning by formulating a scientific and determined approach. They then entered the prototype implementation phase and the manufacturing and testing phase to evaluate these models, which continued until September. Finalized projects are then evaluated against clear and defined criteria.
Head of Oasis of Manufacturers at Qatar Scientific Club Eng. Salman Ghanem Al Sulaithi said that such a competition aims to train students on methods of dealing with problems scientifically and methodically by following several successive steps.
