In keeping with its historic fleet expansion plans, QatarEnergy recently unveiled four new conventional-size LNG tankers constructed at the Republic of Korea's Hanwha Ocean Shipyard and Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard.
The four new ships, "Id'asah," "Nuaijah," "Umm Swayyah," and "Lebrethah," are among the 128 ships bought from Chinese and Korean shipyards as part of the biggest shipbuilding initiative in the history of the LNG shipping sector.
In the city of Geoje, the warships were named in two different ceremonies. The first ceremony was for the "Id'asah," which Samsung delivered first, and was held at the Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard.
The first three new LNG tankers delivered by Hanwha Ocean as part of this program were called the "Nuaijah," "Umm Swayyah," and "Lebrethah" during the second naming ceremony, which took place at the Hanwha Ocean Shipyard. These vessels will soon join QatarEnergy's growing LNG fleet.
Senior executives and representatives from QatarEnergy and QatarEnergy LNG attended the ceremonies, together with representatives from the shipyards, shipowner businesses, and the Korean government.
