Third edition of Katara Space Science Program kicked off on August 20 and will continue till August 22

News EventAt Katara's Al Thuraya Planetarium, the third iteration of the Katara Space Science Program got underway. The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara is coordinating the three-day event alongside MAPS International, and it will run till August 22. The Al Thuraya Planetarium welcomes visitors of all ages throughout the year with a variety of programs and shows that allow them to explore astronomy in depth and uncover mysteries in an engaging way that expands their horizons and connects them to contemporary sciences.
The program also includes a wide range of three-day interactive scientific activities that are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.; these activities combine scientific and theatrical knowledge with a priceless chance for participants to converse with experts to absorb culture and gain in-depth knowledge about space sciences, specifically the James Webb Space Telescope, as well as scientific activities and experiments involving the use of the telescope to observe stars.
The fine arts of twenty-one artists, inspired by meteorology and space science, are on display in the space art exhibition, which combines science and art.
Among the astronomy scientists featured in the program are Dr. Rene Doyon, a scientist at the University of Montreal in Canada and a professor at the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Sharjah; Jim Adams, a former NASA deputy director of the planetary division who is currently director of innovation at Holo Art Corp; and Professor Mashhoor Ahmad Salameh Alwardat, a professor at the University of Sharjah.
The space art exhibition combines science and art, showcasing the fine arts of 21 artists who drew inspiration from meteorology and space research.
