TIME Magazine has named Doha one of the "World's Greatest Places of 2022," out of a list of 50 locations worldwide.
Doha, Qatar has been chosen for its World Cup marvels as the country prepares for the world's largest football event, which begins in November.
The magazine highlighted Qatar's hospitality preparations to welcome football fans from across the world, with a slew of hotels and lodgings set to open later this year, as well as shuttle flights in collaboration with four GCC airlines that are planned to provide seamless transport to Doha.
Two prominent museums in the nation are also mentioned: the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museums, the region's first museum completely dedicated to sports, and the iconic landmark Museum of Islamic Art, which is set to reopen ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Doha is one of just two selections from the Gulf area among the 50 sites on the list of 'The World's Greatest Places of 2022.' Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates also makes the list for its extreme amusement parks.
TIME Magazine claimed that it compiled the list by soliciting recommendations from its "international network of journalists and contributors, with an eye toward those delivering unique and intriguing experiences."
