Volunteer registration for Expo 2023 Doha is set to open in a fortnight

According to a high-ranking official, volunteer registration for Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar's second-largest event, is slated to start in a fortnight. Engr. Mohammed Mohammed Ali Al Khouri, Secretary General of Expo 2023 Doha, told The Peninsula that they hope to recruit between 3,000 and 4,000 volunteers for the half-year event, which is set to begin in October and run through March 2024. Al Khouri highlighted that the registration procedure will begin in the next two weeks, followed by meticulous applicant screening.

The application method will be officially announced via the event's official website and social media outlets. Expo 2023 Doha will be the first horticultural exhibition hosted in a desert climate, encouraging innovative approaches to horticulture with a special emphasis on climate, water, and soil sustainability. With desertification threatening one-third of the world's land area and an extra 12 million hectares of arid land growing each year, desertification has become a significant worldwide concern.

Expo 2023 Doha will span a colossal 1,700,000 square metres within Al Bidda Park and will be separated into three unique sections where volunteers will be allocated. The international area, located in the park's northern section, will serve as the expo's entryway and the major centre for international gardens, exhibitions, and activities, covering an area of approximately 700,000 square metres. The family area, located in the heart of the park, will serve as a focal point for family-oriented events, meetings, and outdoor hobbies, covering an estimated 500,000 square metres. Finally, the cultural area, which will be in the southern zone, will serve as a place for cultural and traditional events, as well as exhibits, and will span around 500,000 square metres.

Expo 2023 Doha is a pivotal milestone in Qatar's progressive growth, as defined in the "Qatar National Vision 2030." Emphasising sustainability throughout its four development pillars: economic, social, human, and environmental. The event is expected to draw three million visitors from all over the world and will be a six-month spectacular showcasing Qatar's dedication to sustainability and innovation.
