‘1000 Opportunities’ initiative has received over 1,200 applications currently

More than 1,200 applications have been submitted for the "1000 Opportunities" programme, which gives small and medium-sized businesses the chance to expand their goods and services into the Qatari market.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) started the programme in 2022, and by August 2022, there were 346 applications. By December of the same year, there were 713 applications, and by March of 2024, there were 1,044 applications.

The Ministry's official statistics indicate that 1,204 applications have been filed to take advantage of the 1000 Opportunities programme. This represents a 15.32 percent increase in applications as compared to the amount of applications received by March 2024, with an additional 160 applicants. With the use of this service, local investors may access investment possibilities provided by significant local and international businesses that are active in Qatar.

Through the 1000 Opportunities project, local investors may use an electronic platform that showcases possibilities from big international corporations in a variety of industries, including as public services, general contracting, food distribution, and communications. The programme expands the private sector's potential and strengthens ties between Qatar's governmental and private sectors. Talabat, CCC Contracting, Lulu Hypermarket, Alshaya Group, General Electric, Power International, and Ooredoo are a some of the businesses involved in the programme.

With the goal of promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors, it will provide a vibrant forum for regional investors to interact with significant domestic and foreign businesses present in the nation. MoCI has facilitated investment in the nation through a number of its projects. According to the ministry's Business Map webpage, there are now 183,944 commercial businesses in total. Of these, 12,860 establishments were registered in 2023, 5,454 during the previous six months, and 2,328 during the most recent three months.

Through the portal on the ministry's website, visitors may obtain information on commercial businesses all around Qatar as well as a complete database of investment incentives throughout the country's many areas.

The effort aligns with the ministry's objective of enhancing transparency and efficiency in its services.

The website also provides statistics on the number of business licences that are registered in each municipality, as well as information on newly approved business licences and the most recent businesses that have been established in Qatar.
