16th Scientific Excellence Award announced its 64 winners

The organizing committee of the Scientific Excellence Award has announced the names of the winners of its 16th session, who will be honored at the closing ceremony of the award in early March.

During a press conference held by the committee on Thursday, the CEO of the Scientific Excellence Award and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs Ali Abdullah Al-Buainain, reviewed the names of the 64 winners out of a total of 199 applicants, in addition to the platinum and gold medals they won in each of its nine categories, as well as the schools and universities of winners, and those who continued to excel after winning previous sessions.

He pointed out that these categories include the Scientific Excellence Award for primary and preparatory students, high school students, university graduates, holders of master's and doctoral degrees, the Distinguished Teacher Award, the Distinguished School, and Distinguished Scientific Research.

He stated that the results showed that 21 male and female students won out of 34 participants in the distinguished student category for the primary stage, while 7 male and female students won in the preparatory stage out of 19 participants, and in the category of the distinguished student for the secondary certificate, 4 of them won out of 16 participants. As for the Distinguished University Student Category: 25 male and female students out of 64 nominated participants won the competition, while one distinguished scientific research for the secondary stage won out of 10 participating researches.

In the Distinguished Teachers category, 2 out of 10 teachers nominated for the award in this category, while two out of 26 competing participants in the master's degree holders category won, and two PhD holders also won out of 20 competitors to win the award in this category.

Al-Buainain stressed that Qatar is experiencing a great moral, patriotic and emotional momentum these days, due to the impressive achieved success by hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and its challenges over the past 12 years have resulted in success stories whose lines are written in gold, stressing in this context that the Qataris have proven their deep affiliation, firmness of determination, and the strength of their determination to succeed and excel.

He pointed out that the Scientific Excellence Award has contributed, through 15 years of its successful existence, to making excellence a strategic goal and a culture rooted in the conscience of the Qatari society, which has become an incubating environment for excellence, due to the wide educational options provided by the state for its children at home and abroad through national strategies and clear educational plans.

The Director of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Scientific Excellence Award Omar Thabet Al Yafei, noted the wide participation in this edition of the award, stressing the importance of competition to serve the country, which made the culture of excellence prevalent among the youth and the scientific community in Qatar.

He also valued the great, distinguished and exceptional success achieved during the World Cup in Qatar, which is no stranger to the country, which confirms that the people of Qatar are capable of overcoming challenges.

He also thanked the parents, students, and the award committees for their efforts in completing this session.

The Scientific Excellence Award aims to honor and celebrate the scientifically distinguished people of the State of Qatar, deepen the concepts of excellence, encourage all individuals and educational institutions to develop their performance, promote positive attitudes towards knowledge and scientific research, and spread the spirit of innovation among students, researchers and educational institutions, as well as fueling the spirit of competition between those entities in the field of scientific excellence, and directing individual and institutional energies towards scientific excellence in fields that serve the fulfillment of the country's developmental goals.
