6th edition of Quran Recitation; 100 participants have qualified for the finalists as per Katara

The 6th edition of Quran Recitation organised under the slogan “Adorn the Qur’an with your voices” is held under the official sponsorship of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Katara, the Cultural Village Foundation announced that 100 participants have qualified for the finalists of the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation. The Katara Prize for Quran Recitation aims to encourage distinguished talents in reciting the Holy Qur’an, discover talented people, support them and present them to the world, honour the distinguished and creative reciters, motivate young generations to adhere to their religion, and realise their duties towards their Islamic faith and message.

The committee selected 100 contestants representing 13 Arab countries and 18 non-Arab countries, where 58 participants from Arab countries qualified, while 42 participants from non-Arab countries qualified. Morocco topped the countries qualified for this stage with about 20 competitors, 17 competitors from the Levant and Iraq, 17 competitors from Egypt, Sudan and Somalia, and about 4 competitors from the Arab Gulf countries, while the number of qualified non-Arab countries reached about 42 competitors. The value of the prizes for the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation is QR900,000. The first-place winner will receive QR500,000, the second-place winner will receive QR300,000, and the third will receive QR100,000.

The candidacy for the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation in its 6th edition was opened from September 1 to November 30, 2022.
