NewsUnder the patronage of Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem, the Arabic calligraphy competition is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, the competition is the biggest worldwide event that the centre has produced in association with the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) of Qatar Museums.
The Ministry went on to say that the competition perfectly embodies the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, which include advancing cultural interchange among Arab countries and the nations as a whole, as well as solidifying Qatar's cultural influence in the Middle East and beyond.
It serves as the foundation for a broad range of pertinent cultural projects supported by several ministries and authorities upcountry that aim to maintain the Arabic language's relevance and serve the Holy Qur'an.
The statement emphasised that these initiatives open up new avenues for human creativity in calligraphy and honour Arabic calligraphy as a craft with a bright future and promising prospects for cross-cultural and cross-civilizational exchange. They also help identify talented calligraphers around the world and inspire young Arab and Qatari people to become proficient calligraphers.
