NewsFor the sake of everyone using the roads, including themselves and other drivers, riders of electric scooters, or "e-scooters," must abide by traffic safety regulations. According to Lieutenant Hamad Salem Al Nahab, Traffic Awareness Officer at the General Directorate of Traffic, "e-scooters have the same requirements as bicycles, such as riders wearing helmets and having lights on the front and back."
Riders of e-scooters must wear fluorescent vests visible to other road users, he added in an interview with Al Rayan TV. "Pedestrians and cyclists alike should utilize the designated areas on the roadways, which are either on the sidewalks or on the side of the road crossing," Al Nahab stated.
He asked drivers to abide by signs and instructions and to abstain from actions on the road that could result in collisions.
