The stadium was built with all the facilities, yet it was a temporarily built for the purpose of football matches. The final whistle was blown on Monday during Brazil-South Korea pre-quarters match.
974 The stadium, built from shipping containers, is also named after Qatar's international dialing code (974). This is the first time in the history of the World Cup that a stadium is completely demolished after the match.
The authorities had earlier made it clear that parts of the stadium will be given to other countries that need stadiums and another project will be brought in place of the stadium. There were also reports that the stadium will be given to Uruguay.
Seven matches were played at the stadium, which seated around 40,000 spectators. Unlike other stadiums, the matches were held at night as there were no air-conditioning facilities. Many people were surprised to find that the entire facilities of the stadium, including the elevator and the bathroom, were made of containers.
