First phase of the Smart Cities Solutions Project was inaugrated

The first phase of the Ministry of Municipality's Smart Cities Solutions Project was officially launched yesterday by Minister HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. This phase involves the installation of smart waste management systems, vehicle management and tracking systems, task distribution, and a central operations command platform. This fits in with the Ministry of Municipality's 2024–2030 plan, which aims to improve well-being, quality of life, and urban humanization while also strengthening services and embracing digital transformation.

The purpose of this system is to keep an eye on how cars and their drivers are moving inside predetermined routes or geographical areas. It offers a thorough historical record of every vehicle's motion, functionality, and technical information while it is in use. It is also connected to the mechanical equipment management store, which allows it to oversee and handle planned and emergency vehicle repair.

In addition to reevaluating vehicle movement routes and redistributing them geographically to give shorter routes, the system has the capacity to monitor drivers and assess their performance. These features help save money, time, and consumption. Tasks assigned to cars and drivers are tracked and monitored, and real-time trip records are kept together with an extensive historical record of routes for auditing and verification.

In succeeding phases, all municipalities will be included in the first phase of smart garbage management, vehicle monitoring, and task distribution, which started in Al Wakrah Municipality.

In the course of this operation, 1,039 tracking devices—including sewage tanks fitted with specific sensors to gauge fluid levels—have been installed for all fleets of government vehicles and equipment. 39 trash transport vehicles and 7,571 waste containers are just two of the many waste collecting operations and components that are managed by Al Wakrah City's smart waste management system.
