On the fringes of the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum yesterday, Ministers of Transport, H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, and Education and Higher Education, H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, inaugurated the first batch of electric school buses.
There were a number of representatives from the Qatari transportation sector there. This is related to carrying out the plan created by the Ministry of Transportation to gradually and completely electrify the public bus system, with the goal of reaching 100% by 2030. This will help to fulfill the objectives of the QNV2030 and the 3rd Qatar National Development Strategy.
This academic year, Mowasalat (Karwa) will test-drive these e-buses as part of a larger initiative to teach students about e-mobility. This fits in with MOT's goals and ambitions for sustainability, as well as for creating a clean, green environment for future generations.
Additional safety features that meet the strictest universal standards are present in these e-buses. Also, they employ the newest international technologies. Along with safety passenger seating arrangements, an emergency exit, surveillance cameras both inside and outside the bus, and unobstructed view for both the driver and passengers, one of its characteristics guarantees that the driver cannot leave any youngster inside the bus.
Additionally, every e-bus is equipped with a GPS, engine sensor systems, external sensors, first aid boxes, an automatic firefighting system, a high-performing air conditioner, safety locks on doors, and a driver performance monitoring system.
