The 82-year-old Brazilian football legend Pele posted a photo of the Lusail Towers decorated with his image on one tower and a 'Get Well Soon' text on the other, on his Instagram. He thanked Qatar and his supporters for the messages he received during his visit to a hospital in Brazil for a monthly check-up. Pele is the only player in history to win three World Cups. He faced a series of health problems during the recent years but has been active on social media.
Pele wrote on Instagram:
"Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit. It's always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!"
Pele's Instagram handle also describes him as: Leading Goal Scorer of All Time (1,283), FIFA Football Player of the Century, and Global Ambassador and Humanitarian.
A life-size sculpture of Pele is currently on display at the CONMEBOL — Tree of Dreams activation in Msheireb Downtown Doha as part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 festivities. His sculpture and other football memorabilia are on display for fans to see and take pictures with from 8 am until midnight.
Pele had recently given a virtual pre-match pep talk with the Brazilian national team and told the squad to "bring home the trophy".
