01 Jun 2024
NewsThe Geneva International Motor Show, one of the most renowned auto shows in the world and a major highlight of the automotive calendar for nearly a century, is about to cease. As per news sources, the organizers have made the decision to relocate it permanently to Qatar.
The Geneva show is ending, according to a Facebook post from the official account. Nonetheless, the organisers plan to carry on with the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar in Doha after the show in 2023. November 27 to December 6 of this year is when the 2024 edition will take place.
After a contract to share hosting rights was reached between the organizers and Qatar's tourism board in 2021, the show moved from Europe to the Middle East. The Geneva International Motor Show was originally intended to be an annual event held in Geneva and a biennial event held in Doha.
The Geneva show's organizer, the Comité permanent du Salon international de l'automobile Foundation, cited "too many uncertainties linked to the automotive industry" and "the eroded attractiveness of the major European shows" as the reasons for the decision.
