NewsAs it consolidates its status as a major aviation hub worldwide, Hamad International Airport (DOH) saw its busiest quarter to date in Q1 2024, breaking all previous records established in 2023. This quarter showed notable increases in aircraft movements (23.9%) and cargo operations (15.4%), along with a startling 27.6% jump in passenger traffic.
13,171,540 people passed through Hamad International Airport in the first quarter of 2024, including 4,533,212 in January, 4,368,710 in February, and 4,269,618 in March. There was a rise in aircraft movements as well compared to the prior year, with 69,959 coming into and going out of the airport in total – 23,996 in January, 22,736 in February, and 23,227 in March.
Over 626,338 tonnes of freight and 10,457,444 bags—including 7,210,079 transfer bags—passed through Hamad International Airport in the first quarter of 2024, indicating that the airport is regarded as a favored transfer center for travelers from throughout the world.
The airport has served 188 cargo and passenger destinations, further strengthening its global connectivity and securing its position as a top travel destination for discriminating travelers worldwide. It currently connects a network of 48 airlines, 44 of which operated in Q1 and 4 more airline partners that have since joined its network.
