Hamad, Ruwais, and Doha ports achieved the second-highest monthly container handling rate in June 2024

In June 2024, the ports of Hamad, Ruwais, and Doha handled approximately 144,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), making it the second-highest monthly container handling rate. This is a 51 percent increase over the same time the previous year. 

Mwani Qatar stated in a statement on its X platform yesterday that this expansion was accompanied by increases in handling volumes of general and bulk cargo, cattle, RORO, and vessels by 163%, 149%, 108%, and 23%, respectively. 

In June 2024, the total weight of containers processed by the three ports was 144,884 tonnes. 242 boats arrived at the ports over the same period, and the total amount of general and bulk cargoes, RORO, livestock, and building materials handled was 22,504 tonnes, 15,680 units, 59,129 heads, and 56,934 tonnes, respectively. 

During the first quarter of 2024 (Q1/January to March), Mwani Qatar ports handled 351,564 TEUs of containers, representing a 4% increase over the same time the previous year. In Q1, the ports also saw increases of 46% in RORO units, 6% in building materials, and 46% in livestock.

The primary port for international commerce in Qatar, Hamad Port, handled 144,749 TEUs, 34,768 F/T (freight tonnes), and 15,644 units of containers, breakbulk, and RORO in June 2024, with 123 boats arriving at the port.
