Hamad, Ruwais and Doha ports registered a strong performance in cargo handling volumes in May 2024

NewsAccording to Mwani Qatar, the ports of Hamad, Ruwais, and Doha had a notable increase in cargo handling volumes in May 2024, resulting in a successful performance.
In May 2024, there was a notable rise in general and bulk cargo handling, with a 158 percent increase over the previous May. According to Mwani Qatar, the RORO units, live stock, and boats climbed by 71 percent, 19 percent, and 7 percent, respectively, yesterday on its X platform.
In May 2024, 213,492 tonnes of general and bulk cargo were handled through the three ports. In May 2024, the ports received 242 boats; in the same month, 123,530 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), 10,632 units, 58,374 heads, and 40,049 tonnes were handled in relation to containers, RORO, cattle, and building supplies.
351,564 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo were handled by Mwani Qatar ports in the first quarter (Q1/January to March) of 2024, representing a 4% increase over the same time the previous year. In Q1, the ports also reported increases of 46% in RORO units, 6% in building materials, and 46% in cattle.
In the first quarter, there were 647 ships that called at Qatar's three ports. During the review period, the ports received 142,886 tonnes of building materials, 19,200 units of RORO vehicles, 221,125 heads of cattle, and 367,350 tonnes of general and bulk cargo cargoes.
