International Plastic Bag Free Day; Ministry of Municipality organised several awareness events for the public

The International Plastic Bag Free Day is observed on July 3 of each year. The Ministry of Municipality organised a number of public awareness activities as well as events for shoppers at commercial malls.

In order to maintain and protect the environment and realise the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030), the number of single-use plastic bags must be reduced and substituted with eco-friendly cloth bags.

The public was given environmentally friendly bags and awareness publications about the ministry's efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags, as well as information about Ministerial Decision No. 143 of 2022 regarding controls on the use of plastic bags and Public Hygiene Law No. 18 of 2017, which was amended by Law No. 6 of 2023. Additionally, the public was given information about the solid waste sorting programme from the source and Ministerial Decision No. 170 of 2021 regarding it, in addition to a variety of entertaining and educational activities for kids and adults.
