The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara has begun preparing the location where the third edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF) will take place. The horse paddock, stage, and event tent have been set up for this year’s edition. The festival, to be held at Katara Esplanade will start from February 1 to 11 and the total prize money is still at a whopping QR17,083,500.
It will feature three competitions: The Peninsula Show which will run from February 1 to 4, Arabian Horse Auction on February 7, and Title Show, from February 8 to 11, like the 2022’s edition.
Katara, late December last year, had stressed that the third edition will be exceptional and will include a group of the finest authentic Arab horses. Meanwhile, the foundation has also announced that registration for the auction is open until January 13, and the fee is QR500. Individuals who want to participate can visit kiahf.qa.
To date, there are 38 horses participating in the auction.
According to Katara, the said competition is aimed “to make Qatar a global destination renowned for Arabian horse auctions of the highest and most authentic standards, and to promote interest and encourage participation in Arabian horse championships held locally and internationally.”
“The auction supports owners seeking to sell their horses while enabling buyers to upgrade their stables and farms with superior show horses that can compete in championships. It also encourages breeders to follow the highest standards in breeding.”
It added that among its goals is to promote Qatar’s endeavor to preserve and perpetuate the Arabian breed. Moreover, owners of horses participating in this year’s edition who wish to request for an entry visa to the country can now apply at the website, kiahf-registration.katara.net.
The foundation has also announced the Ringmasters for the Title Show and The Peninsula Show: Dr. Mohammed Hammad and Dr. Mohamed Mohsen, who are both from Egypt. As for reservations of tables and tickets for The Peninsula Show and Title Show, it will be launched soon, said Katara.
