NewsThe public was advised by Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Ministry of Interior (MoI), and Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) on how to protect their electronic accounts and stay safe from online fraudsters.
Scams are dishonest plans intended to deceive individuals into parting with their money, belongings, or other possessions. Scammers take on many different forms, often masquerading as well-known individuals, organisations, or businesses. They might occur in person, over the phone, or by email, and you might not see them until it's too late.
Cloning whole websites to deceive consumers into sharing sensitive information is a common scamming technique. The MCIT advised individuals to exercise caution when visiting such fake websites.
In addition, the QFCRA released several tips on how to identify and avoid frauds.
Another common kind of online fraud is phishing, in which con artists deceive you into divulging your personal information (password, username, account number, etc.) by email or text message.
The QFCRA provided some guidance on how to spot a phishing email or text message. Individuals were also warned by the MoI to safeguard their electronic accounts when going outside Qatar.
