NewsThe Medical Treatment and Research Centre (MCRC) is a prime example of Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) continued dedication to improving healthcare services and expanding the ability to offer specialised treatment to all patients in accordance with the highest international quality standards.
Aiming to promote therapeutic practices through clinical precision medicine and genomics, the new 250-bed centre provides exceptional healing environment for inpatients. By providing medical treatments tailored to each patient's unique characteristics, the Centre will help medical professionals and researchers better understand which treatment plans are most effective for a given illness and lower the likelihood of side effects.
The MCRC is HMC's newest facility, with the goal of supporting and conducting precision medicine clinical studies as well as giving patients access to precision care in all main and subspecialty areas that HMC offers. With a major focus on patient safety, the Centre assists researchers and clinicians in carrying out clinical trials and research that will significantly enhance patient outcomes and treatment.
Situated in Doha's Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, the Medical Care and Research Centre spans four stories in addition to the main level. It features many rooms for single and shared patients, isolation rooms, and a clinic for seating and movement. Three specialised care hospitals—the Women's Wellness and Research Centre, the Ambulatory Care Centre, and the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute—are also connected to the MCRC by an internal bridge. This makes it easier to get diagnostic and laboratory services as well as specialised treatment.
The MCRC is home to several top-notch clinical units, one of which is the Clinical Trials Unit. This unit focuses on planning, carrying out, and overseeing studies that assess the safety and effectiveness of novel medical approaches, therapies, and gadgets on human subjects. It also contains the Centre for Clinical Precision Medicine and Genomics, which is dedicated to creating customised medical therapies based on the unique traits of each patient.
With a paediatric ward, paediatric intensive care unit (PICU), paediatric nursery unit and high dependency unit (HDU), MCRC will provide the best possible treatment for kids.
In order to handle the increase in acute diseases among elderly patients, the MCRC also has an acute geriatrics unit. Patients and their families will find a warm and inviting environment in a contemporary palliative care unit. For patients using prosthesis, there is also an outpatient unit.
A variety of support services are also available at the Centre, such as a pharmacy, an inpatient physiotherapy gym, an ambulance ramp for patient transfer, male and female waiting spaces and multipurpose rooms.
