Mayor of Braga HE Ricardo Rio was present when PAM President HE Enaam Mayara gave the medal.
The award is evidence of how much the diplomatic efforts of Qatar, particularly in humanitarian relief, are valued both locally and globally. In recognition of Qatar's humanitarian efforts to bring about peace and its active diplomacy in providing humanitarian and relief aid, it is given to HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Qatar supports sisterly and friendly countries during times of crisis, natural disasters, and armed conflicts, such as the earthquakes in Turkey, Syria, Afghanistan, and Sudan.
Every year, people and organizations that work exceptionally hard to advance political, social, economic, humanitarian, and other development initiatives targeted at promoting world peace and prosperity are given the "Champion of Humanitarian Diplomacy" Award in this category.
