Ministry to activate recycling programme in private schools and kindergartens during the academic year 2022-2023

NewsA series of meetings with the Seashore Group on activating recycling programme in private schools and kindergartens during the academic year 2022-2023 was held by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Department of Private Schools and Kindergartens in the Private Education Affairs Sector. The initiative aims at preserving local environment, through an awareness programme that achieves the objectives of Qatar’s vision in the sustainable development of the environment.
In this context, Rashid Al Amiri Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department, met with representatives of Seashore Group - Arwa Salama and Sheikha Al Qahtani, coordinators of the recycling programme. The meeting was also attended by Samira Al Douh, Head of the Activities and Trips Team at the Department of Private Schools and Kindergartens, in addition coordinators from 10 schools and kindergartens, which were selected as a random sample to implement the programme in the various educational stages. Al Amiri stressed on the importance of the programme and the role played by private schools and kindergartens in raising generations and instilling the value of preserving the environment.
He reviewed the programme plan and its various activities, such as organising a series of lectures on sustainability and recycling, and the services provided by the Seashore Group to schools and kindergartens by providing them with containers divided according to types of waste, to familiarise students with sorting waste and how to benefit from it. The Director of Private Schools and Kindergartens Department discussed about organising activities under the programme which suit to the target age groups of students. He also stressed on the importance of the plantation initiative in schools and kindergartens in particular and the Qatari environment in general, cleaning beaches, holding competitive competitions between private schools and kindergartens, and distributing prizes.
